Thinking and getting ready to stitch

I mentioned before that I am doing Jude Hill's online self paced class called Spirit Cloth 101 ...  I am enjoying it and getting back to hand stitching something that isn't a quilt.

Tonight I am putting together some ideas for a cushion top using natural cotton cloth, some gorgeous Japanese taups and sari silk remnants.  Of course there are little circles waiting in the wings to be cut and appliqued because most things I do have some form of circles in them.   Well that is my evenings this weekend set ... What are you doing?

Zentangle Inspired Fine Art by Jane Monk

I have spent this afternoon putting the finishing touches to this very large ink drawing. Some of you will recall that I started this quite some time ago now and I am pleased to say it is now ready for me to add colour to it ... just had to share the excitement :)

I do apologise for the quality of my photograph ... in all the excitement and all .... cheers until next week ... Jane xx

Spam

Not the kind you eat :)

I have had to change the comment verification on this blog as I have had so much spam coming through anonymous comments and it is driving me batty.    So I hope all you genuine people will still comment ... I will review it next week to see what happens over the weekend.

Thanks
Jane x

An update on all things

I am currently doing a little Fabric Artist Trading Card swap with some fabulous people I know.  It is a Valentines Day swap ... can you tell?

I have hand stitched these so far but need my machine to finish them off ... sadly my trusty Bernina is having a few sick days and is off at the Machine Doctor being checked over.  I hope she is okay, I need her and miss her already.  Counting the days until Thursday when I can pick her up and bring her home again.

As many of you may already know, I have cancelled my FaceBook account, both personal and Jane Monk Studio.   I will be updating this blog every week, hopefully on Mondays or Wednesdays.   I have decided that I need to spend some serious time trying to build up my Longarm Quilting business again as it has gone decidedly quiet in the past year or so and it is my sole source of income.   I also want to spend time developing some of my art, especially my polymer clay One-of-a-kind (OOAK) dolls.

So ... I hope I you will like what I have to show you over the coming months, please leave me a comment, I am ashamedly grateful for your comments and feedback, it is after all, a great way for artists to develop their skills. Of course it is also good for our egos :) .

I have also commenced a little self paced online workshop with Jude Hill, called Spirit Cloth (http://spiritcloth.typepad.com/)  I am really partial to hand stitched, intuitive work and would love to develop my embroidery skills and all the gorgeous natural fibers I have collected over the years. Sometimes you just have to do something that calls to you.  I have Mandie from Ewe Give Me The Knits to thank for letting me know of Jude's gorgeous work.

Okay, so that is it for the moment ... Happy Australia Day to you all this coming weekend.   Will catch up with you all next week.

Happy Creating for now ... Jane xxx
