Yesterday I started a Wholecloth Quilt. Using white Cotton Sateen as the quilt top and backing. This one is for a King Sized bed, so it is quite large. I am also working on a Queen sized one but am still marking that out.
The first picture is the start. The second picture shows what I have done on the first run across the fabric. I will post more when I have done the centre piece which will be a lovely stem rose.
I have to say it is lovely to be quilting free style, just doing what I love :)

The Whole Quilt
This is the whole quilt ... beautiful tiny applique that I have stitched around each leaf and tree, I have then quilted bubbles into the background to give it texture without detracting from the simplicity of the piece. I love it and my customer was very very happy. Susan R does the most beautiful applique work and it is a pleasure to quilt it for her.

Bubbles for December
I have been madly quilting bubbles on this customer quilt I have loaded on my longarm quilting machine. It is taking quite awhile, but is enjoyable just the same. I think it is fitting to have bubbles for December :)
Hope everyone is getting ready for the Christmas season and holidays.

Finished another Custom Quilt
This is a quilt appliqued by Sharon T. The Celtic applique is lovely, took her a long time.
I have custom quilted it quite heavily with pebbles, feathers and a modified piano key border, putting circular double lines around each block gives them the effect that the blocks are circles rather than squares and creates diamond shapes inbetween the blocks. A nice effect I think.
This is the back.
If you would like a quotation for quilting, please contact me through Jane Monk Studio.
Enjoy...Jane x

I've been Quilting
I have been quilting on my longarm ... a customer's beautiful candlewick quilt. Her request - those beautiful feathers that you do! I am blown away that people think my quilting is nice and then send me their quilt tops to finish for them. Thanks everyone of my lovely customers!
I have to say that I have really really enjoyed quilting this one - all that creamy expanse of fabric.
Have a great week everyone .... Jane x
Edited to add photos of the quilt now that I have finished the quilting. Sorry about the quality - it is a little windy here today.
Enjoy.

Purrfectly Quilted ... thought you might like to know
I posted this over on my other blog Purrfectly Quilted and thought you might like to know also.....
I sometimes do Custom Quilting for customers. These quilts take longer to do than the usual Edge to Edge quilts as the quilting is individual and more often than not, designed by me. Sometimes I can have the quilt machine tied up with a custom quilt for two weeks at a time.
I do not have a computerised quilting machine - I use an APQS Millennium that is hand guided (this means that I move the quilt machine to create the stitches and patterns - it is all in my hands and head). I don't use a lot of rulers or stencils. I call it Freehand Custom Quilting and this allows me to use my artistic and technical ability.
Next year I will only be doing a limited number of custom quilted quilts, and I already have four booked in. So if you have something special you wish to be custom quilted by me, make sure you leave plenty of time and book it in well before you need it completed. This also means that I will have a quicker turn around for Edge to Edge and AllOver quilts ... so call me to arrange an obligation free quote to have your quilt quilted by me here at Purrfectly Quilted. (Contact: 0438 302 515)
Also, I have been working hard to bring you a project that you can make using my Zentangle for Quilters style of freehand quilting on your domestic sewing machine. January 2012 issue of Quilters Companion will feature my project and accompanied by a DVD ... I hope you all enjoy this project and the brief look at Zentangle for Quilters.
I will be teaching at the September 2012 Australian Machine Quilters Festival, held in the city of Adelaide, South Australia - both a domestic machine quilting class and a longarm machine quilting class - This second AMQF Festival is going to be a fantastic event and even Ricky Tims is coming - don't miss it!
I am also very very happy to say that I will also be teaching at the Taupo Sympostium Fabric Art Festival in New Zealand, to be held in 2013...which is really not that far away.
Happy Quilting for now .... Jane
